Mount Harmony Farm Guest (Carriage) House 8601 VT Route 122, Sheffield VT 05866 802-525-1234 |
Karen C, Matt, Ben, Hope & Seamus (the Beagle)--August 2015 We had a wonderful stay at Mount Harmony Farm in August 2015. Our time with Stephanie and Marc Bourdelle and their farm animals was just what we were looking for – time to relax and unwind in such a beautiful mountain setting. The guest house was perfect for our family (2 older teenagers and dog) to spend time together; from the comfortable beds to the kitchen for cooking meals and dining area where we actually sat down and enjoyed dinners complete with fresh picked greens from their garden. Complete heaven… We had so much fun with the farm animals and the trail hike to the scenic overlook was filled with beautiful discoveries. The Bourdelles are such gracious hosts and made sure we had everything we needed from filtered water refills to a spare picnic cooler that we forgot to bring. Stephanie even took care of our wet clothes and towels from the swimming pond and returned them dry and comfy to us. The guest house is very clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the Mountains from the picture window. We really enjoyed Dog Mountain, Hill Farmstead Brewery, live jazz music and the food at the Parker Pie Company, Clyde River Kayaking and the Perennial Pleasures Nursery. The Mount Harmony Farm website has such great information and links for so many things to do in the area and the guest house is filled with brochures to help plan activities. Booking was so simple and all e-mails we sent with questions had very timely replies. We will definitely be back to such an awesome place!! Thank you also for the daylilies and chocolate mint plants you sent home with us. Your generosity abounds and the plants will be such wonderful reminders of our time with you. We will definitely be back! Sofia P--October 2015 Marc and Stephanie were the ideal hosts. We had the greatest time ever! They have a beautiful farm facing west and we experienced the sweetest sunsets we have ever seen melting over the mountains. You can feed the animals and pick fresh veggies from the garden (in season). You can make a fire in the firepit outside and peer at the Milky Way! What else do you need? The cottage itself is well appointed and there is a giant picture window in the great room also facing west that brings utmost peace while reading in one of the rocking chairs. The entire master bedroom is like a king-size rustic suite -- perfectly quaint and romantic and homey. We already miss it there and can't wait to return. Russell T--September 2015 We had the most fantastic stay at Marc and Stephanie's place. Gorgeous accommodations with breathtaking views, super cozy bedrooms and a very well equipped kitchen. Our son Henry made best friends with the donkeys and goats, which he was encouraged to feed and pat, it was just brilliant. Stephanie guided us to a nearby "secret" sanctuary with a pond where we were able to swim and laze around in the most idyllic setting you could imagine. Our time spent here was such a highlight, I cannot thank them enough for such fantastic hospitality. We would go back in a flash. Christian G--September 2015 We reserved it at the last minute. They made us feel very welcome. It was a beautiful place and the house had a very nice charm. Stephanie showed us the garden where they grow vegetables that you can take. Marc also brought a goat so that our 3 year old son could interact with him and have some farm and nature experience. Both Marc and Stephanie are very nice persons and fantastic hosts. |
Lindsey & Molly--May 2015 We had an amazing holiday weekend in VT staying at Marc and Stephanie's guest house. Marc and Stephanie are incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful people--they made us feel comfortable and had great recommendations of things to see & do (and places to eat!) in the area. And what a gorgeous area it is to explore. Your choice of mountains, lakes, or rolling hills...We were very happy with our stay and would love to return in the future. Thank you for having us! Dara H--October 2014 Both Marc and Stephanie were so nice and helpful. They wanted to make sure the place was super clean and that we knew where everything was. They offered to give us a tour of the place, and the farm. They offered vegetables from their garden to us. The place is cozy. The area is remote which in my opinion is a good thing. There are amazing places nearby (15-20 miles) to get incredible beer and food. I highly recommend staying here and visiting this area of Vermont. Also, their animals made the visit so fun. It was a perfect experience. Isabelle R, (Björn, Isabelle, Maddalena, Pierre, Ceçille, Thomas, Junie, Alain)--October 2014 We enjoyed our stay at your wonderful guest house very much. The place is lovely and [Marc & Stephanie] were very welcoming. The view of the mountains (and the animals!) from the 2nd floor is amazing! |
Rafael M-- September 2015 Hosts are great, very friendly and helpful. They have beautiful and well behaved animals so close by the house that it made the experience even better. The land is very special. I will definitely stay again and recommend friends. Darin D--September 2015 Stephanie and Marc were great hosts! Marc took the time to show us all the ponds near by and let us take delicious veggies from the garden! We had a blast hanging out at the pond with our dogs all day and ending it looking at the stars with Marc and Stephanie, they were such amazing hosts we couldn't have asked for better! Thank you both so much for the stay and the company! Paul W--July 2015 A wonderful old farm guest house for a great stay. Marc and Stephanie were very easy to communicate with and very good hosts. The kids especially loved the animals and gardens which Marc was kind enough to present to them. We are big fans of the Northeast Kingdom, and with hidden ponds + Bread & Puppet just down the road, we certainly will stay here again. Limor Y--July 2015 Stephanie and Marc's farmhouse is a very special place, with very special people (Stephanie and Marc) who are surrounded by stunning scenery, beautiful landscape. Wonderful atmosphere. The farmhouse is the place to stay, the accommodation is excellent. We spent a very enjoyable weekend and we look forward to visiting Stephanie and Marc soon again! Nick H--July 2015 Marc and Stephanie were great, as was their property. We will definitely aim to stay there again in the future. Thank you so much for your hospitality! The scenery and garden and animals and space and hosts were all perfect. We're only bummed that we forgot to take some of the herbs you offered! |
Daria P, Matan, & Emma (the Corgi)--October 2014 Marc and Stephanie were wonderful, kind, warm and welcoming hosts! The Mount Harmony Farm is a little heaven on earth, if you would like to just relax, enjoy the nature and silence, this is definitely a place to visit. The property is located away from busy main roads, on the beautiful hill, with breathtaking views! We were visiting during the foliage season so the views were unforgettable. We could just sit all the time in front of the “slow entertainment center” on the second floor (as Stephanie calls it) and enjoy the tranquility. When we arrived, Stephanie provided us with all the needed explanations and details about where to find what in the house, about the property and surrounding area. Marc and Stephanie introduced us to very cute animals and showed us the garden, from which we could pick up fresh lettuce, arugula (rocket), kale, dill, parsley, fresh garlic (all these goodies for a great salad!!!), leeks (we made a great potato and leeks soup), beets (another salad!), Swiss chard and juicy tomatoes!!! And of course some herbs for cooking and tea! The guest house is very cozy, warm, clean and spacious, full of special spirit and inspiring art (we loved The Desiderata)! We could find absolutely everything we needed. If you are looking for an isolated, quiet, and relaxing weekend in nature, this is the gem for you! Moreover, this property is pet-friendly and we could bring our little Corgi puppy with us, which was a huge advantage and was difficult to find. It was a great retreat for the family and we are happy to meet soul mates. We hope to be back, and highly recommend. Danielle Van O.--September 2014 Marc and Stephanie were wonderful and caring hosts who were available anytime we needed, but gave us complete freedom to use the house and space as our own. They happily accommodated our little ones as well. Mount Harmony Farm was a fun place to stay. Amazing views, great kitchen, and plenty of comfy places to hang out throughout the house. Our family loved the animals and gardens. We highly recommend staying with Marc and Stephanie if you have the chance! Ajay P--June 2014 Marc and Stephanie were great hosts! Upon arrival Marc provided a tour of the property and where we could find things. They were available to answer any questions we had throughout our stay. We had a great first night where we shared a meal and had very interesting conversation. As mentioned in their listing, there were some goodies in the garden for us to eat/cook with! It was a great stay and glad to have left with two new friends. Hope to be back in the future and highly recommend. |
Delphine D--April 2014 We enjoyed our stay in the little house at the edge of the valley and facing such a beautiful landscape. Stephanie is like this home: welcoming and kindly. We hope to have another opportunity to stay there. Matt C--April 2014 Marc and Stephanie are kind and welcoming hosts. They were very available, but completely unobtrusive. The guest house is well appointed, warm and comfortable. The picture window on the 2nd floor overlooks the farm and allows great views of the donkeys, sheep and geese. There are nice walks on the VAST trail nearby as well as hiking in [The Sanctuary], both within walking distance of the house. We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful corner of VT! Megann L-G--March 2014 My husband and I decided on an impromptu weekend trip to Vermont to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Mount Harmony looked like exactly what we needed so the evening before we sent Marc and Stephanie a message. They got back to us promptly and we were on our way. The guest house is cozy and spacious, well stocked with appliances, toiletries, and oh so many spices! We made ourselves a nice dinner and cozied up to some Netflix on the couch. The next morning we drank our coffee in front of the lovely large picture window looking out over the farm grounds and watched the donkeys and the adorable baby sheep eat their hay breakfast. That afternoon we drove around exploring the lovely snow covered northeast kingdom and spent the day exploring Montpelier about 45 minutes away. Marc and Stephanie are friendly and more than gracious hosts, nice to chat with, and informative about the area (they suggested nearby Parker Pie (great pizza) for dinner Saturday night and live music, which was a perfect way to spend a chilly evening!) And Marc saved the day when he helped us get our little hatchback over the plowed snow bank on the afternoon of our departure! We can't wait to head back to Mount Harmony for a Vermont hiking & fishing outing this summer! |
Michael & Kayla M--Thanksgiving 2016 Another Wonderful Stay This was the second time my wife and I stayed in Marc & Stephanie's beautiful guest house and just like the first time, we didn't want to leave. Not only is the house incredibly charming and cozy, and complete with everything you could ever want in a Vermont retreat, but the scenery is absolutely gorgeous and Marc & Stephanie are undoubtedly two of the nicest people you will ever meet. I always recommend this rental for anyone looking to get away and spend a loving vacation in Vermont. It truly is one of our favorite places to go and I can't say enough positive things about the guest house, the hosts, and the location. Lauren & George B.--July/Aug 2016 Natural Beauty & a Peaceful Place Marc and Stephanie were wonderful and helpful hosts on their beautiful farm. It is a very quiet location perfect for nature lovers and those looking to "get away from it all". The guest home is charming with everything you need. There was coffee, butter, juice and condiments in the fridge. Great selection of tea & herbs for cooking. A nearby market had everything you needed for breakfast, lunch, and dinners at home. The beds were super comfortable and there is a great reading nook on the second floor. The huge window let you see the changing landscape from sunrise to sunset. The hosts were attentive yet gave you plenty of space. Take them up on their offer to show you the nearby sanctuary & ponds. We went there twice a day with our dogs to hike and swim...it really was one of the most incredible places I've seen. There is lots of hiking in the area and many choices for swimming in beautiful lakes. Bread & Puppet is right down the road and Hill Farmstead is only 15 minutes away. Parker Pie Co. is a neat place for pizza and a great selection of beer on tap. If you're looking to unwind and relax this is the perfect place. |
Sophie & Steve H.--August 2016 We had an amazing time staying with Marc and Stephanie. They were perfect hosts - welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, and there if we had questions but otherwise let us do our own thing. The garden was amazing - so many types of lettuce, herbs, garlic, snap peas, tomatoes, and even some chocolate mint! Stephanie went out of her way to give us some of her pine nuts so we could make pesto with the fresh basil from the garden--it was delicious! And the animals (geese, a pair of donkeys, and some sheep) were amazing companions. The farm is located in a wonderfully quiet part of northern Vermont. There are some great restaurants, an amazing brewery (Hill Farmstead), and endless natural beauty. The nearby ponds are isolated and peaceful, and Lake Willoughby is a twenty-minute drive away if you're looking for something bigger. We can't recommend this place enough--we have visions of coming back year after year (and in different seasons) to sit by the incredible second floor window, snacking on Vermont cheddar and drinking a Pale Ale from the brewery. Life doesn't get much better. Chris & Christina C.--May 2016 Extraordinary! Like most things that are spectacularly beautiful, photographs do not do this spot justice! The farm & garden were blooming with so many forms of life. Stephanie was sweet enough to let us take a bit of VT home with us--a bouquet of lilacs, and some rooted chocolate mint herb! The Guest House was immaculate--every room was clean. Kitchen is fully stocked w herbs and teas & coffee. Each bedroom had a bunch of fresh towels w hand towels & washcloths on the beds, which were so useful! Bathroom had shampoo, conditioner & soap. The picture window just blew our minds! Talk about beauty overload! The memory foam mattress in the grand upstairs bedroom was as comfy as it gets. Stephanie had an entire drawer of brochures & maps for local places to hit. There were also crayons, colored pencils, books, notebooks and movie--so being entertained indoors is a cinch. Stephanie & Marc truly go above and beyond to make your experience seamless. She took us to the sweetest lake just down the block and introduced us to her the different types of flowers & mushrooms. She told us the donkeys loved dandelions, and that we could roam the two trails they have on their property in addition to their backyard for as long as needed. Stephanie & Marc's hospitality, coupled with their picturesque home, made our trip one we'll never forget. We will definitely be staying here again!!! |
Don & Simone C. & Daughter, Sophia--November 2016 Stephanie and her husband Marc were great. We used this as our home base to visit family for the weekend. The upstairs great room window is awesome and you will not want to move from watching nature. Stephanie took the time to show us around the place and made sure to find some drawing paper for our daughter who also loved the place. We look forward to staying there again. Response from Marc & Stephanie: Wish that Don, Simone & spirited Sophia could have stayed longer. Sophia drew a picture for me with a story attached--what a great gift! If you come back when there's snow, I'll want to see if Sophia would like to go out and make a snow polar bear with me. |
